Incredible final: Milan overcame 0-2 against Inter and is champion of the Italian Super Cup
In an unpredictable ending, Milan ended up with a truly great game worthy of a classic final against Interin which they started the second half losing 0-2 and managed to come back at the end (3-2) to be champion of the Italian Super Cup.
The match, a tactical duel at the beginning, did not start well for those led by Sergio Conceição. Regarding the closing of the first half, one of the worst moments of the game, Lautaro Martínez showed off with a great individual play with which he beat Mike Maignan and scored 1-0. To make matters worse, a striker who was at a bad time (the “worst”, as he confessed in the pre-match press conference), took off with a tremendous conquest.
And the start of the second half foreshadowed worse things for Rossonero. As soon as it began, Mehdi Taremi escaped one-on-one with Maignan and scored the 2-0 that seemed to bring the match down.
If there was one thing that saved Milan, it was a quick reaction. Five minutes later, Theo Hernández took a perfect free kick to the goalkeeper’s post and scored.
And at 80′, when Inter sought to play its retreat and defense game near the goal, looking askance at the clock, It was Christian Pulisic’s moment. The American received in the area and prepared to take a cross left foot shot and tie the actions, giving hope and life to Milan.
Again, towards the end what seemed unthinkable would happen, when everything was predisposed for kicks from the penalty spot. Tammy Abraham completed a good collective play below the goal after a pass to the middle by Rafael Leão and unleashed madness in Riyadh.
Milan is champion of the Italian Super Cup and has an unbeatable start to 2025.
