“Go to Real Madrid? I would have been the biggest traitor in football! Barça was a dream”

Joao Felix (26) has expressed, in an interview in the newspaper AS, his desire to return to European football and the good memories he has of FC Barcelona. The Al-Nassr midfielder, formerly of Atlético and Barça, also says that he would never have gone to Real Madrid.

Regarding his past at Barça, he admits that “I have very good memories. In the end we couldn’t win anything, but simply playing for Barcelona made me very happy. Obviously going on loan is not the same as being owned. Being a club player everything is different. Anything can happen in one year, being very good or very bad, high or low, but very happy to have worn the Barça shirt, which was a dream as a child, mine, my father’s, my brother’s. It was a source of pride.”

Asked about a hypothetical signing for Real Madrid, the Portuguese answers: “I would have been the biggest traitor in football. No, no, no. I really liked being in Barcelona. Well, yes, I missed Real Madrid, but I am proud to have played for Barcelona.”
