Franco Colapinto exhibition: the car travels to Buenos Aires
The Alpine team has already packed the Lotus E20 with which the Argentine driver will perform the road show in the streets of the capital of Argentina on the 26th.
The Lotus E20 with which Franco Colapinto will carry out the exhibition in the streets of Buenos Aires on the 26th has already been packed and began its journey to Argentina from Enstone. The Argentine driver who races with the Alpine team in F1 will accelerate the Renault V8 engine in the road show that will take place in the area of the Monument of the Spanish in the capital of Argentina. In the last few hours, and due to the large number of people expected, the City Government decided to extend the route by almost 400 meters to have more space in the free zone, which will cover most of the improvised track. According to organization estimates, 500,000 people are expected at the event.
According to a source confirmed to AM850.com, the group of mechanics that will travel to Argentina is the one that usually participates in this type of exhibitions.for which, Alpine always uses the Lotus E20 (as happened in Miami 2018 or in Goodwood in 2019 and 2024, for example) with the decoration that this year’s car has (A526). The number of mechanics that travel to each road show varies between five and seven depending on the amount of time and length. In the case of Buenos Aires there would be five or six. The E20 (the model Lotus used in 2012) is a simple car to operate.
The Alpine delegation will be completed with press people and content generators who will work together with the organization to show the exhibition to the world. For the French team’s road shows, the material can travel by plane or by boat. The second option was chosen for Argentina, because it is cheaper, more efficient and sustainable for the movement.
Colapinto will hold the exhibition in Buenos Aires and from there it will ship directly to Miamiwhere a week later Formula 1 will resume the activity of its 2026 calendar after the April break, due to the cancellations of the Grand Prix of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia due to the war in the Middle East. Alpine is fifth in the Constructors’ World Championship after the first three rounds of the year and Pierre Gasly, the Argentine’s teammate, is part of the group of five drivers who left with points in the three Sunday races of the year (Kimi Antonelli, George Russell, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are the other four). The man from Buenos Aires scored a unit with tenth place in China.
