The Argentine stayed at the gates of advancing to the next classification segment of the 15th date of F1 in Zandvoort.

It was not the expected Saturday for Franco Colapinto in the GP of the Netherlands, 15th Formula 1 date. After a crazy Friday, with red flags and accidents, which had played in favor of the Argentine to be ninth in the second round of training, the second day of activity in Zandvoort was very complicated. And the climax was the 16th place in the classification, which left him out of battle in Q1.

Alpine chose to introduce changes in the A525 of the Argentine for Saturday and were not goodsomething that was evidenced with the last place he occupied in the third training. The Estone returned back with the modifications and the Buenos Aires found a better car, but it was not enough to advance to Q2.

Colapinto said that in his last attempt he met Carlos Sainz and Oliver Bearman and that that took time. It is worth clarifying that Zandvoort is a narrow and short clue, with which traffic is something that all pilots live together, especially in Q1. Franco was not the only one who threw with rivals on the layout.

The Argentine scored 1m10s104 in his best attempt to be 16º, just 67 thousandths from Gabriel Bortoleto, who took the 15th place with the Sauber, last place that gives passage to Q2. Meanwhile, Pierre Gasly, Colapint’s partner, stopped the clock at 1M09S894 (210 thousandths faster than Franco) and was eighth, to pass over to the second segment.

The French, finally, would not be able to advance to Q3 and will start 14, two positions ahead of the Argentine, in this Sunday’s race, which will be 72 laps to the Zandvoort layout.

Colapint was bitter from the Saturday Dutch. The Argentine, more than anyone, knew he needed to achieve better performance in his holiday return, after several complicated races. He is the only grid pilot who did not add and, although Alpine is the weakest car of the World Cup, it requires results. The partials, some telemetry data and be faster than Gasly in some parts of a weekend (in Hungary it was every day) do not reach. And much less after the harsh statements of Flavio Briatore on Friday, in full press conference. Perhaps, the rain announced for this Sunday in Zandvoort is the push necessary to meet a crazy and changing race, such as the second rehearsal session, and can hit the table, which is already imperative.
