Frana, in his presentation as captain of Argentina in the Davis Cup: “I am very excited about the project”
Javier Frana was officially presented as the new captain of the Argentine Davis Cup teamreplacing Guillermo Coria, who spent three years in office. The first experience he will have will be the visit to Casper Ruud’s Norway, at the end of January, for the first round of the qualifiers.
Frana was presented alongside Mariano Zabaletawho was representing the AAT (he is 1st Vice President), at the Belgrano Athletic Club facilities. There, he declared: “It is a huge honor to be in this place fulfilling this role. It is an enormous responsibility. Those who know me know how special this is to me. “I want to thank the AAT, Agustín Calleri, Zabaleta, for thinking of me for this possibility.”
The former tennis player and Olympic medalist in Barcelona 1992, spoke about when in his life this opportunity came to him: “I think it comes at a time when it had to be. I had very great learnings, after tennis I had to generate new skills and when a new change came I continued training myself.”
“We are very confident and very happy. You are a person with a lot of wisdom and we know that you are going to put that into this job. We need the boys to have a good guide, in sports and in human matters, and we are convinced that you are the right person,” he added.
Afterwards, he referred to the project: “I am very excited about the project, in my history as a player, what remains most important to me is when one plays under the flag. The only thing that conditions you are beliefs and wondering why not. When the player is on the court he is alone. “We have to help them talk to each other better, to have an optimistic vision to get their maximum potential.”
Finally, he closed: “For me they are all in my head as eligible. Horacio Zeballos, because of his hierarchy and what he is, is in my consideration. What came before doesn’t interest me. “This is a shuffling and re-shuffling.”
