Feyenoord’s approach was clear from the beginning. The plan was play with an organized and withdrawn defense, taking over the center of the field to prevent Bayern’s ball circulation and betting on the counterattack with long balls.

In the first attempt to go on the counterattack, Smal’s long pass to Giménez ended up in the net. Giménez slipped between Minjae Kim and Alphonso Davies and beat Manuel Neuer with a strong left-footed shot.

Biljow was once again key for Feyenoord by stopping Kane’s shot in the 54th minute and deflecting a header from Jamal Musiala into a corner in the 60th minute. In the 68th minute Kane missed a good chance when he shot against the leg of a defender inside the area and in the 70th minute Leroy Sané headed against the post.
