Fernando Alonso: “We try to help young drivers find their way. My role is to guide them and contact the teams and people I have met to give them the possibility of fulfilling their dreams”

Fernando Alonso Not only does he dedicate himself body and soul to F1, preparing as much as possible every day to be ready to fight every weekend to maximize the result of the car he has. All this, with the hope of being able to have a competitive car sooner rather than later. He also wants to be the most complete driver in history, competing in other competitions in the future, as he already did 2018 to 2020. But his legacy goes beyond all that.

Since 2022, he has wanted to use all his knowledge, experience and environment to train the talents of tomorrow and take them to the top of different disciplines, whether F1, IndyCar, Formula E or even rallying.

We refer to the work carried out in A14 Management, the representation agency that the man from Oviedo founded four years ago with his manager, Alberto Fernández and Albert Resclosa. The three friends, together, managed to create from scratch a professional structure that has grown at a great rate, to currently have almost twenty pilots and the presence of Oriol Servià as representative in the United States and Iago Fernandez for the lower categories.

A14 Management has been key in the training and definitive steps taken, for example, by the Brazilian Gabriel Bortoletowhich A14 Management accompanied to F1 with Audi as the great future leader of the German firm’s project.

Alonso and A14 have been very important for me. Fernando, Alberto (Fernández, ‘Galle’) and Albert (Resclosa) gave me the opportunity to grow: to enter Formula 3 with a good team, in Formula 2 with a good team and then they opened the doors for me to have opportunities in F1. I will always appreciate it

“Alonso and A14 have been very important for me. Fernando (Alonso), Alberto (Fernández, ‘Galle’) and Albert (Resclosa) gave me the opportunity to grow: they gave me the opportunity to enter Formula 3 with a good team, in Formula 2 with a good team and then they opened the doors for me to have opportunities in Formula 1. I will always thank them. For everything. And also, having someone like Fernando as a mentor, who helps you, pushes you and whom you can observe up close, all of that is incredible,” Bortoleto himself said a few months ago to Mundo Deportivo.

And at the press conference for the Brazilian F1 GP, Fernando Alonso was asked about the work he does to help his pupils. The man from Oviedo gave an extensive response about what he can contribute to young people who face the difficult challenge of climbing the ranks in such a competitive sport and in which having talent is not enough.

Alonso: “I am very involved”

“I’m very involved. There are three of us in A14 Management and we try to help young drivers find their way in motorsport. “We try to advise them and give them the support they need, particularly in the transition from karts to the next series,” he explained.

“Some have the goal of reaching F1, others want to win the 24H of Le Mans, and others want to be rally drivers. They all need and ask for different things. My role at A14 Management is to try to guide them based on my experience and contact the teams and people that I have met throughout my career and give them the possibility of fulfilling their dreams.. And I hope they can have a career full of success and “Enjoy motorsports in the best possible way”he noted, before reflecting on this sport.

Not all drivers need the same team: karting drivers have to move on to F4 or FRECA if their level is different… others, due to their personality or character, need a Spanish team, or sometimes they have the talent but can’t be on a winning team because they get too stressed… that’s part of my job, understanding what they need.

“Motor racing is very complicated, very competitive and to achieve your goals you need luck, being at the right time and place, financial support, a team environment…and not all drivers need the same team: karting drivers have to move on to Formula 4 or FRECA if their level is different… others, due to their personality or character, need a Spanish team, or if they go to a team that has been successful in previous years, sometimes they have the talent but cannot be on a winning team because they get too stressed… “That’s part of my job, to understand what they need,” ended about it.

MD has already spoken on previous occasions with some of the students who grew up at A14 Management. Without going any further, one of them is Pepe Martí, who arrived with the Asturian’s agency to F2, at the Red Bull academy, before achieving a contract as an official CUPRA driver (CUPRA Kiro team) in Formula E. To get that signature, Fernando intervened directly so that the negotiations could reach a successful conclusion. And so it was.

Years ago, his own Pepe stood out in Sports World how important it was Fernando Alonso in the simulator sessions that the agency’s drivers carry out virtually as part of their training, since the two-time F1 champion participates in them, analyzing lines, braking and exact points of improvement in the young people’s driving, even putting them to the test by changing the settings of the cars.

Furthermore, he instills in all of them his philosophy of always trying to maximize the result of any car. That is, if they have a car to be 3rd, go for 1st. And if they have one to be 18th, go for 17th place. Exactly what Fernando has been doing since he debuted in F1. Lead by example.
