Fame Hall: The 50 active NBA stars that could enter

Copiar enlace

The next two players in this category are younger and less prominent, but still deserve to be separated from the large number of twenty -five -year -old stars that appear in a later category. Edwards is fifth at points of his career until he was 23 (behind LeBron, Durant, Carmelo Anthony and Doncic) and has been included in the second All-NBA team in consecutive seasons. Only a few retired players, such as Blake Griffin, Kevin Johnson, Marques Johnson and Ralph Beard (who was suspended by a dot reduce scandal), had two appearances in the All-NBA team at 23 and are not in the Hall of Fame today.

And it might seem presumptuous to include Wembanyama in this group, since he has only played 117 games in his career. But if health allows it, probably any player, executive and fan of the NBA would imagine Wembanyama as a future member of the Hall of Fame due to its wide set of skills at such a young age.

*Horford currently has no contract, but will probably play in the 2025-26 season.

Although Basketball-Reference gives Derozan a 48% chance to enter the Hall of Fame given its current curriculum, it could be closer to getting it than the tightrope. Only four retired players with at least 20,000 points in his career have not been consecrated, and barely exceed 20,000: Lamarcus Aldridge (20,558), Joe Johnson (20,407), Tom Chambers (20,049) and Antawn Jamison (20,042). As recent retired, Aldridge and Johnson could also be chosen soon. Derozan, meanwhile, has risen to 25,292 points and continues to add. It does not have a great history in playoffs, but its durability and statistics, which continue to add, should catapult Springfield.

Lowry and Holiday bases have very similar cases, and although their statistics do not seem worthy of a hall, they should receive an impulse as consummated winners and respected taxpayers in all aspects.

Love is a kind of Lowry and Holiday wing, five times All-Star, NBA champion and Olympic gold medalist with more than 15,000 points in his career. However, Love has had a much lower longevity than the two bases (it has not scored more than 1,007 points in a season since 2017-18), which could harm its possibilities to highlight.

Like Love, Horford is five times All-Star and NBA champion. Unlike Love, Horford reached its maximum level at a lower level, but still remains a key player in the championship in the late 30 years. The consideration of the Basketball Hall of Fame at all levels could greatly benefit Horford, thanks to his consecutive university titles in Florida. In the era of the games of a single season, few players will receive a notable impulse of the NCAA in their candidacies to the Hall of Fame; Horford could be the exception.

Finally, Towns is five years younger than the rest of the players in this group, but did not fit perfectly in any other group on this list. Undoubtedly, he is considered a veteran, since he enters the thirties with 10 seasons in the NBA. On the positive side, Towns has an impressive statistical history. It measures 2.13 meters with 40% success in triples in his career, and is one of the only 22 players in the history of the league with averages of more than 20 points and more than 10 rebounds per game. The other 21 are in the Hall of Fame, they are still active or have been suspended by a points reduction scandal (such as the star of the 50s, Alex Groza).

On the other hand, Towns’ palmarés-which includes a rookie trophy of the year, five All-Star teams and three nominations for the third All-NBA team-does not yet reach the level of the Hall of Fame, and its record in the playoffs is poor. In summary, it seems that Towns needs some stronger seasons to secure his position. Providing the Knicks to the finals would certainly help.

Group 5: 29 -year -old players to limit

Jalen Brunson

Donovan Mitchell

Devin Booker

Sabonis Domantas

Jaylen Brown

This is an interesting cohort of players, all of which will turn 29 at the end of October, and all with one or two nominations for All-NBA in their career and a good opportunity for the Hall of Fame, depending on the rest of their best.

Brunson is the most recent player of the group, a player who has matured late with selections to the All-Star and results among the 10 best MVP in the last two seasons. The Knicks captain has a long way to go – 10,000 points are missing in his career – but he is upward and, like Towns, he could take giant steps this season if he manages to boost the Knicks to the finals at an east conference with few players.

Another player who could also take advantage of the weakness of the east is Mitchell, who in the process would correct the most obvious defect of his curriculum: despite his incredible success in the regular season and his solid individual statistics in the playoffs, Mitchell has not even reached the conference finals. Even so, with six consecutive appearances in the All-Star and a nomination for the first All-NBA team last season, Mitchell has a solid base for future induction to the Hall of Fame.

In the west, Booker only has two All-NBA selections and now he is in a terrible team situation, but his consistency since he reached the league being a teenager has taken him to the tenth place at points of his career until he was 28 years old, with 16,452. Stephon Marbury (19. Booker could end with a Case of the Droan style -style fame in a decade, with enough points to counteract any demerit on its player page.

Sabonis could also follow Derozan’s example to join his father, Arvydas, who entered the Hall of Fame thanks largely to his solid international career. The young Sabonis has only been three times there and twice all-NBA, but continues to accumulate points, rebounds and assists. With 68 triples-doubles in his career, 50 of them in his three complete seasons in Sacramento, Sabonis could reach the three digits in triples-doubles, something that only six players in the NBA history have achieved. (Doncic will almost surely surpass Sabonis in the 100 figure, as well as Antetokounmpo).

Brown, the last member of this group, has an exceptionally attractive prize: that of MVP of the finals, which is almost a guarantee of its eventual consecration: Cedric Maxwell and Andre Iguodala (who has not yet had the opportunity to be on the ballot) are the only MVP of the retired finals that are not in the Hall of Fame. However, most MVP of the finals have much more solid curriculum than Brown’s, who at the time was named All-NBA and has never been the best player in his team. Like all other players of this level, they still have a job to be done, and will have the opportunity to impress as the top scorer of the Celtics is next season, with a low tatum due to a Break of the Achilles tendon.

Group 6: We will return in a few years

Tyrese Haliburton*

Jalen Williams

Chet Holmgren

Evan Mobley

Cunningham cunning

Paolo Banchero

Zion Williamson

Already Morant

Bring Young

Lamelo Ball

Scottie Barnes

Alperen Sengun

Tyrese Maxey

Stephen Castle

AMEN THOMPSON

Cooper Flagg

*Haliburton might not play in the 2025-26 season, since he recovers from a Break of the Achilles tendon.

When analyzing young players with possible aspirations to the Hall of Fame, we decided to adopt a “the more, the better” approach. It is easier to imagine players of this group making the leap to the Hall of Fame than to better and more consolidated players, with more advanced races but that have not yet reached the level of elite.

In other words: is it a player as Castle better today than, for example, Pascal Siakam? Definitely not. But Siakam is already 31 years old and only a 2% chance to enter the Hall of Fame given its current curriculum, according to Basketball-Reference, while Castle only has 20. Therefore, the current rookie of the year has greater possibilities to reach the level of the Hall of Fame at some point in his career.

So we include all the players who have debuted in the last five years and have been part of an All-Star team, in addition to the young man who seems to be more likely to soon enter their first All-Star team (Thompson). We will not cover all the players of this group in detail, but let’s analyze some of the most interesting cases.

Flagg has not even debuted, but given its potential as the first selection – and much less a first selection with such expectation – it already has almost 50% chances of entering the Hall of Fame one day. Here is the number of future members of the Hall of Fame selected first for decade:

1960: 4

1970: 4

1980: 5

1990: 4

2000: 2 (more LeBron, probably Griffin and maybe Rose)

The decade of 2010 will probably not reach that historical average, with only two insured chips (Davis and Irving) and a case of air currency (Towns). Meanwhile, Anthony Bennett, Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz are candidates for the Hall of Fame, and Andrew Wiggins and Deandre Ayton have never been part of an All-NBA team. Williamson either, but with only 25 years, two All-Star teams and at least the potential to dominate if he manages to maintain good health, it is worth mentioning Williamson as a possible candidate for the long-term fame hall. Several of the first positions after him have better possibilities. We have already talked about Edwards and Wembanyama, and the All-Stars Cunningham and Banchero are also on the right track to the beginning of their races, with a wide margin of growth as they approach their best moment.

Finally, Williams and Holmgren could be the Thompson and Green by Stephen Curry, Gilgeous-Alexander, while the Oklahoma City Thunder look for the new league dynasty. Williams was included in All-NBA and All-Defensive teams in his third season, and Holmgren should be a pillar of the All-Defensive if he plays enough games to qualify.

With a historical average of 34 active members of the Hall of Fame in a given season, that means that an equitable distribution would place approximately a member of the Hall of Fame in each team. But, of course, the NBA does not have a uniform distribution, and a team like the Dallas Mavericks could easily have four members of the Fame Hall next season (Davis, Irving, Thompson and Flagg). What makes Thunder so remarkable is that they will not only have three potential future members of the Hall of Fame at the same time, but also that they are young, grow together and help each other to improve to become great historical.
