F1: the heartfelt message from Franco Colapinto, after his move to Alpine
After much speculation about the future of Franco Colapinto, it was confirmed that the Argentine driver will be Alpine’s reserve and, from social networks, the young runner left your heartfelt message for the new stage and for Williams, the team that fulfilled his dream of reaching Formula One.
This is how the Pilar driver expressed himself about his new challenge: “I am very excited to have the opportunity to join the BWT Alpine Formula One team. First of all, I want to thank Williams for all his support from the moment I joined the Academy until the last race in Abu Dhabi. They made my dream of competing in Formula One come true. and I will always be grateful for that.”
“Now is the time to start a new chapter and Taking on this new challenge with BWT Alpine Formula On is an honor. Thank you very much Luca (de Meo), Flavio (Briatore) and Oliver (Oakes) for believing in me and welcoming me to the team with open arms. “I can’t wait to get started and see where this journey takes us.”
“Also, a huge thank you to all my sponsors and partners who supported me in the challenges of the 2024 season. Your support made it all possibleand to my incredible fans in Argentina: Thank you very much! Your passion and support mean a lot to me. Let’s aim for even bigger things in 2025 and beyond.”
Meanwhile, from Williams they greeted Colapinto: “Thank you, Franco.”
“From our Williams Driver Academy to being a multi-point driver in Formula One, it has been a privilege to watch you grow.”
What does this change of team mean for Colapinto?
Colapinto, in principle will be behind the starting drivers Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan. The Argentine’s role compared to the one he was going to have at Williams will not change: he will be a reserve. Of course, his chances of having a chance to race in a Grand Prix next season were extremely remote in the English team, with a dream pairing composed of Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon. Imagining that these runners falter during the year and that Franco could jump to the starting position as happened in 2024 to replace Logan Sargeant seems, to say the least, utopian.
In Alpine the story is different. Because next to the very experienced Gasly (he closed 2024 with his A524 immaculate and without dents) There will be rookie Doohan, son Mick, five-time world motorcycling champion. The Australian will have the sword of Damocles from the beginning of the year, precisely in his home race, because at the slightest sign of weakness in performance, he will be pushed to the side to climb Colapinto.
