The Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren) recorded this Saturday the fastest lap in the third and last second session of free training in the Melbourne circuitwhere this weekend will be played by the Australia Grand Prix, first race of the 2025 season.

The pilot, born precisely in Melbourne, left his best chrono in 1: 15: 921, with the British George Russell (Mercedes) in second place, about 4 hundredths. In third place ended the current world champion, the Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull).

The Spaniards Carlos Sainz (Williams) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) ended in the sixth and the seventeenth position, respectively. The Asturian was forced to abort his first attempt after sliding in excess in the fourth turn.

The session was marked by a red flag in the first minutes, starring again by the British rookie Oliver Bearman (Haas), who left track in the eleventh curve after touching the grass, although, unlike what happened this Friday, this time he avoided the clash against the wall.

After these last practices, this Saturday the qualifying session will also take place, at 4:00 p.m. local time (05.00 GMT). The great race will be held tomorrow, Sunday, at 15.00 local time (04.00 GMT) in the Albert Park circuit, 578 meters track and presents 14 curves.
