F1: Max Verstappen does not lead the World Cup and it’s news
The Dutch battled with his Red Bull against the McLaren and finished second, behind Lando Norris, and lost leadership after 1029 days.
Once again, Red Bull was a single pilot team. Max Verstappen had to battle alone against all before the failed premiere of Liam Lawson. The New Zealander, who arrived to replace Czech Pérez, had a difficult baptism, with motor problems in the third practice, a classification in which it did not go from Q1 and a Carreara in which he ended up in Trompo and abandoning. Thus, the Dutch took his face for the team of energy drinks in Australia, the first date of the year, and, hurry talent, managed to finish second, a much better result than the RB21 allowed him in the papers.
It is clear that McLaren has the car to beat. The 385 thousandths that the tricampeón gave in the classification with respect to Lando Norris, the owner of the pole, had correlation in the race while it was relatively normal. Because after overcoming Oscar Piastri in the start, he endured second place while he could. Pressure, he had a slight slip that allowed the Australian to recover the escort position of his teammate. But when the madness of the rain and security cars began, added to Piasri’s error, the tetracampeon appeared to get second and bring Norris short until the end.
The second place left him without the tip of the World Cup after 1,029 consecutive leadership days, since he won the 2022 Spanish GP. 63 Large Awards passed in which the name of the tournament pointer was not changed. Charles Leclerc had been the last leader of Formula 1 after the 2022 Miami GP, before starting Max’s string.
“It was a difficult race, of course.L, but here it is very difficult to advance. Even so, the last turns pushing were fun and at least fought for victory. I am happy to have finished the race and of having added good points, “said Verstappen, who knows that the 18 points he reaped are a major prize than expected.
