Enrico Cardile, Adrian Newey’s right-hand man at Aston Martin: “Each of the 2027 parts will be new”
2026, with the change in regulations, was the great asset of Aston Martin to be able to fight for important things in F1. However, the British team is being the real disappointment of this first year of the new era and they are fighting to avoid being the red lantern of the classification with cadillac and Williams. For the same reason, the continuity of Fernando Alonso in F1 is not yet confirmed for 2027.
That said, Aston Martin is already working overtime to be able to turn the situation around sooner rather than later. Once all the new features have been introduced in the AMR26, the plan is to have a good car next year. Enrico Cardiletechnical chief of the Silverstone team and right-hand man of Adrian Neweyexplained that the concept of next season will continue to be an evolution of what is now but that all the pieces will be new.
“Each and every piece will be new. Everything will be improved. But conceptually it will be an evolution of the direction we took with this year’s car. Now we are on the right path, but we are not tied to it,” said the former Ferrari driver in an interview on Aston Martin’s official website.
“Let’s put it this way: when approaching the ’27 project, we have not imposed any limitations on ourselves in terms of trying to maintain any element of the previous car. In this sense, It will be a completely new car, and that gives us the freedom and mentality necessary to achieve what we want“.

Cardile commented that the team’s idea is to focus on 2027, but in any case the latest news for this campaign arrives this weekend, taking advantage of the Azerbaijan GP in Baku, where power will be key and with the Honda engine they will suffer again. At least they will try to reduce weight to gain some top speed.
“The only exception would be if, while developing the 2027 car, we discovered something that made sense to test on track this year to improve our correlation. But, for now, there is nothing else scheduled.”
“We still have to cocomplete our weight reduction program. That should be ready for the Baku race. Starting in Baku, we will basically race with the final version of the car for the rest of the season,” Cardile said in closing.
