Emma Raducanu also modifies her equipment. Now, the British company has started working with Yutaka Nakamura, the physical trainer known for his work with Maria Sharapova and Naomi Osaka.

The 22-year-old, who will fly to Brisbane next week for hot weather training ahead of the new season, confirmed Nakamura will be with her “most weeks” of the yearaccording to the BBC.

Injuries have acted as a persistent brake on Raducanu’s career since winning the US Open in 2021. But after some testing, he feels now is the right time to add a dedicated fitness expert to his team. “I think it’s going to help me really explore how far I can go athletically,” he said.

“I think it is a great virtue that I have and that I have not yet managed to develop. I can become one of the best athletes in tennis and I am looking forward to seeing what I can do.” Nakamura has been training with Raducanu and his coach Nick Cavaday at the National Tennis Center in London all week.

Raducanu will start the season in Auckland at the end of December and also hopes to play in Adelaide before the Australian Open begins on January 12.
