Ecuadorian Esther Galarza won the Cycling Tour of Costa Rica
The Ecuadorian Esther Galarzawith the Mexican team BMC Patobikewas crowned champion of the Cycling Tour of Costa Rica. The competition ended this Sunday and featured the participation of 14 teams and 80 athletes.
“It was a four-day effort, my team’s work was spectacular, I would never have won alone, my teammates bet everything on me and we are happy with the results,” stated Galarzawho also won the title of ‘Queen of the Mountain’, while her teammate Jannie Salcedo, from BMC Patobike, won first place in the points classification.
The Ecuadorian cyclist totaled 12 hours, 24 minutes and 54 seconds in the four stages of competition. In second place came Jasmin Soto, from Macizo GW Banrural, 4 seconds behind the champion. Third place went to Lorena Villamizar, from the Boneshaker Project Presented By Orange Seal, at 4 minutes and 20 seconds.
Other Ecuadorians also stood out
Marcela Penafiel20 years old, placed third in the Under 23 classification, while Ana Maria Torres31 years old, finished in fifth position in the elite category in the Return to Costa Rica It was held in four stages with a total of 377 kilometers.
