With the change of regulations for next year and in the middle of a season in which it is far from fighting for titles, Maranello’s team prepares an update for the SF-25 and then close the program.

After fighting for the title of builders until the last date of 2024, Ferrari were hopeful with a great 2025. However, none of that happened. After nine of the 24 dates of the calendar, the Scuderia marks in second place among the teams, but at 197 points of the leader, McLaren. Among the pilots, Charles Leclerc is the best located, in fifth place, 92 of the leader, Oscar Piastri. Worse is the harvest of Lewis Hamilton, the shining hiring of the Italian Team: the heptacampeon barely added 71 units.

With this gloomy panorama, the Ferrari Popes evaluate soon close their 2025 program and focus definitively on 2026. The Rossa engineers bet on a great technical change for the last season with the regulations in force and decided to change the front suspension design to use the pull-rod and imitate Red Bull and McLaren, discarding the Push-Rod. LThe results did not appear and, moreover, the SF-25 suffered with problems in height. In fact, after the technical exclusion that Hamilton suffered in China due to the excessive wear of the background of his chassis (produced by the rubbing with the asphalt), Team technicians decided to raise the height to avoid more problems to meet the rules, but that made them lose even more competitiveness.

Leclerc achieved the only three Ferrari podiums in the year (Saudi, Monaco and Spain) and Hamilton’s side is only rescued the success he achieved in Shanghai’s sprint. The rest, forgettable. Given this situation and an almost lost World Cup, in Maranello we work on a great update for its SF-25 that aims to modify the rear suspension and solve the problem of height. With that package of better, which would be ready for the GP of Great Britain, Ferrari would close his work on the current model and definitely focus on next year’s car. In fact, Hamilton himself said in Barcelona that “he would soon press” for the team to be dedicated to project 678, the internal name of next year.

It is worth remembering that in 2026 there will be new car and track engines and will be considered and give again. In the Boxes Corrillo it is pointed out that Mercedes would have an advantage over the rest in the development of the driver, something that already happened with the current generation that entered into force in 2014.
