Dodgers: Betts out due to back discomfort

Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts had to leave the game after the first inning due to back discomfort.

WASHINGTON – Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts left Saturday’s game in Washington after the top of the first inning due to pain in his right lower back.

Betts started as a starter at shortstop and batting in the third inning; He walked in the first inning and later scored on Freddie Freeman’s two-run double. He was replaced on the field by Miguel Rojas before the bottom of that same inning.

Betts, 33, is coming off a 2025 season in which he played 150 games. Although he struggled during the postseason, he was the one who started the 6-6-3 double play that gave Los Angeles victory in game seven of the World Series.
