Dodgers activates Tommy Edman and releases Chris Taylor
Tommy Edman left the list of injured and to open place in the roster, Dodgers released veteran Chris Taylor
Los Angeles Dodgers released the veteran Utility Chris Taylor on Sunday, breaking links with a long -standing player who had been relegated at the end of the bank in recent weeks.
Taylor, a Dodgers player since 2016, will be removed from the Roster to accommodate another utility, Tommy Edman, who was activated from the injured list before the last game of Sunday’s series against Los Angeles Angels.
By releasing Taylor, the Dodgers will pay the last year of their four -year contract and $ 60 million and will allow him to become a free agent.
Its departure occurs four days after the Dodgers cut links with the veteran Alternate Reception Austin Barnes to accommodate the star prospect Dalton Rushing. In addition to Clayton Kershaw, Taylor and Barnes represented the two most veteran members of the Dodgers.
The decision to free Taylor apparently indicates that Hyeseong Kim, South Korea’s second rookie base, will remain in the big leagues, even after Teóscar Hernández is activated from the list of injured in the next few days. Kim, a fast left-handed batter, has a 31-14 record since he was promoted by Triple-A.
Taylor has appeared in just 35 games this season and has accumulated only 28 appearances to the plate, during which he connected seven hits and 13 strikeouts without receiving balls for balls. His only opportunity to play was as a defensive replacement in the left garden at the end of the games. Their shift opportunities to Bat in the Major Leagues became so rare that the Dodgers occasionally called linkers smaller to travel from the nearby Cucamonga Rancho to throw in Taylor and that he could see speed.
Not long ago, however, Taylor was a key member of the successful teams of the Dodgers, a clear representation of the fascination of management for versatility. After having difficulty making his way with the Seattle Mariners, Taylor was transferred to the Dodgers in June 2016, changed his swing and changed the course of his career. From 2017 to 2023, Taylor registered average batting of .256/.336/.444, accumulated 17.7 victories above the replacement (War) according to AGRAPHS and played frequently in six different positions: left garden, central garden, right garden, third base, second base and campocorto.
His best moments arrived in October. Taylor was CO-MVP of the 2017 National League Championship series, along with Justin Turner. In the seventh game of the 2018 National League championship series, Taylor made a miraculous trapped in the hole between the left and central garden to preserve an advantage of a race and, finally, to boost the Dodgers to the victory.
During the Playoffs of 2021, Taylor connected the gold homer in the wildcard game against the St. Louis Cardinals and then connected three homers against the Atlanta Braves in the fifth game of the National League championship series.
But Taylor had a bad streak during the 2024 season, hitting .202/.298/.300 in 87 games. And as the 2025 season passed, it was clear that Taylor did not have a role in the most stellar roster of the Dodgers of that time.
