Juan Martín del Potro will play his farewell match in ‘The Last Challenge’ against Novak Djokovic. “It is a great pleasure to return to Argentina after 11 years since the first time I was here. It was an honor when Juan Martín asked me to accompany him in his last challenge. I can imagine all the emotions he is experiencing right now,” Novak Djokovic began, speaking exclusively in Spanish to the press.

“I have done everything to live this moment in the best way with him and all the Argentine people with whom in the past I have shared very beautiful moments. I feel at home here with the Argentine people who are very friendly. I am very excited, very happy to play and share this moment“, continued the 24-time Grand Slam champion, detailing his connection with the South American country.

“For me it was an easy decision to come here when Juan Martín called me. The rivalry we have is also very great because we play and have many wonderful moments in the biggest stadiums of our sport. But In the last period our friendship is more than a simple rivalry, we are here to celebrate Juan Martín’s career and enjoy every moment”he said in reference to the moment in which the Tandilese asked him to accompany him on his farewell.

“It is evident that, with his talent, he has had bad luck with injuries because without them his career could surely have been greater. I don’t know what it is because I haven’t had bad luck like him with injuries but that makes him greater as an athlete, when you don’t have the health, you can’t do or be 100% dedicated to the sport. That’s why it’s sad for me what happened to him but today we are here to celebrate it,” the Serbian closed in reference to the numerous ailments that Del Potro suffered throughout his career.

The exhibition ‘The Last Challenge’ between Juan Martín del Potro and Novak Djokovic can be seen from 4:30 p.m. in Argentina through Disney+.
