Cramps, tip and an infamous ending: this was the SuperTiebreak that left Zarazúa outside the US Open
Renata Zarazúa (82nd of the WTA ranking) and Diane Parry (48 °) played an unforgettable game in the US Open 2025. In the second round, and after almost three hours of the game, the French player finally achieved victory in a tight Match 6-2, 2-6 and 7-6 (7) played on court 5 in Flushing Meadows.
After two sets with clear dominators, distributing one per side, in the third one could see the best version by both players. A game course that, if it could be, surely the outcome was a fair draw. However, in tennis that does not exist. For that reason, everything was defined in an unforgettable SuperTiebreak.
At the beginning of the tiebreaker, 10 points for being in the decisive partial, the European player made a big difference: he became 8-3 above. At that time, Parry began to suffer cramps in his leg, which coincided with a level rise by Zarazúa.
From there, everything was matched, with high level and memorable stalls, the Mexican became 7-8. Despite the parity and the closeness in the Score, when it seemed that Renata could turn the game -with the Mexican public making himself felt more and more -Diane showed his hierarchy. After an unpaid mistake of Zarazúa, Parry accelerated at the Match Point and an impossible Winner granted him the victory.
Despite the disappointment of the result, Renata retired from the stadium with a feeling ovation of her people and a large number of applause. This? Due to the memorable meeting he played.
