Chile will once again host an international tournament
Santiago de Chile It will host the Women’s Junior World Cup for the fourth time. The tournament will be played at the end of 2025, exact date to be confirmed. Additionally, for the first time in history, it will include eight more teams, reaching a total of 24, with the idea of: “Expand opportunities and foster inclusion to grow hockey globally”said FIH President Tayyab Ikram.
In addition to the hosts, the qualifiers are: Netherlands (number 1 in the world ranking), Spain (10th), England (4th), Germany (3rd), Wales (22nd), Belgium (6th), Ireland (14th), Czech Republic ( 26th), Argentina (2nd), United States (7th), Uruguay (23rd) and Canada (15th). The teams that will occupy the places in Asia, Oceania and Africa will be determined later.
The 2023 edition was also on Chilean soil, and Las Leoncitas were runners-up, losing in the final to the Netherlands, which was crowned two-time champions.
