The Red Bull driver described the maneuver that left him out of the Qatar GP

The Mexican Czech Perez He regretted the retirement he suffered during the Qatar Grand Prix being left out of the race by running in fifth position and being only 18 laps away from finishing.

Checo described what he experienced and noted “a very hard blow” when he suffered a spin during the last moments of the safety car. Then the car was unable to move any further due to the breakage of the Red Bull.

“We were doing everything right. We were struggling with the balance connection and it was settling in for us the entire race. With a hard tire the engine, I don’t know what happened, but it hit very hard and I lost with the cold tire,” he declared before the microphones of AM850.

The Mexican considered that the result is “a shame”, since he started in ninth position and thanks to tire management and the safety car he was in the important points zone.

“I came with hard tires and when I put on the accelerator when exiting the curve I had a super delivery (a lot of power delivery) from the engine that made me lose the car and I lost the engine. We couldn’t recover it from there,” Pérez reiterated.

“Everything was going well, we were coming for a good result, fighting for the podium in those last laps. We were fifth and unfortunately we lost the engine and we spun on those cold tires and I couldn’t control the car,” he said.

However, he pointed out the positive evolution of the team during the weekend, since on Saturday it finished last in the Sprint and was later able to fight in Q3.

“It has been very interesting. We started off balance and went forward. That was positive and in Abu Dhabi we must confirm that we continue on that trend.”
