Carlos Alcaraz couldn’t beat Frances Tiafoe
In times of change, Carlos Alcaraz (3rd in the world ranking) played and lost in Charlotte.
The Spanish fell this Friday 5-7, 6-1 and 11-9 against Frances Tiafoe in an exhibition organized in CharlotteNew York.
Alcaraz and Tiafoe faced each other in a party atmosphere at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte and the American ended up taking the victory in the final tiebreaker against 16,200 spectators.
Two friends off the court, Alcaraz and Tiafoe exchanged a long and heartfelt hug at the end of the match, after delighting the crowd.
Last Wednesday, Alcaraz had won the exhibition tournament ‘The Garden Cup’, held at Madison Square Garden, after beating the American Ben Shelton 4-6, 6-2 and 7-4.
It is worth remembering that in the last few hours it became public knowledge that the Murcian added a new reinforcement to his work team: Samuel Lopez. Juan Carlos Ferrero will continue to be the head of the group. The former world number one knows Samuel because he was part of his team while he was a player.
Samuel López already accompanied Alcaraz in Miami 2022 and in the last two editions of Queen’s and during the last Australian Open.
