Bucsa defeats Hungarian Udvardy and advances to the Guadalajara quarterfinals

Cristina Bucsasixth favorite and number 44 in the WTA ranking, beat the Hungarian this Tuesday Panna Udvardy83rd in the world, for advance to the quarterfinals of the Guadalajara Tennis Openwestern Mexico. Bucsa won in one hour and 29 minutes with partial 6-4 and 6-4.

“It was a difficult day, I had physical problems, emotionally I didn’t feel well, but I managed to overcome it. I appreciate the support that this entire audience gave me because it helped me get ahead,” Bucsa said at the end of the game.

The Spaniard, who suffered a break in the second game of the first set, recovered thanks to her powerful forehand and her precision from the back of the court to dominate Udvardy with breaks in games one and three to win 6-4.

In the second set, Bucsa lost effectiveness in his first serve, he only managed to make 33 percent of them in his two initial games, but he countered them thanks to Panna’s erratic returns, which allowed him to break in game nine and sentence the set 6-4 with his serve.
