Boca Juniors fires Claudio Úbeda

Boca Juniors officially announced this Tuesday the departure of the first team coach, Claudio Ubedaafter just over half a year in office and days after the elimination of Xeneize in the Libertadores Cup.

“Club Atlético Boca Juniors informs that Claudio Úbeda has stopped being the coach of the first team,” the institution announced through the social network

Ubeda He had assumed the position in October of last year, after the death of the coach Miguel Ángel Russowhose assistant he was. The coach thus leaves office after eight months in which he directed a total of 32 official matches, with a balance of 17 wins, seven draws, eight defeats and no titles.

In that period, the blue and gold team was eliminated early from Clausura 2025 and, after a promising start, was also left out of the fight for Apertura 2025 after losing on May 9 to Huracán in the round of 16.

At the international level, they started their journey in the Copa Libertadores on the right foot, but then, due to a decline in performance and two expulsions at key moments, they were unable to sustain themselves and were eliminated last Thursday after losing 0-1 in La Bombonera against Universidad Católica de Chile.

Juan Román Riquelme, president of the club, will now look for a new coach who will begin the preseason on June 18 with his sights set on turning a new page and achieving a trophy in the second semester.
