América beat Unión Magdalena and was one step away from qualifying

Cali America thrashed 3-0 Magdalena Union and was one step away from qualifying for the semi-final home runs. The Scarlets on the penultimate day reached 29 points and are seventh, with a victory on day 20 they would obtain a place in the next round of the BetPlay League.

Those led by David González showed no mercy towards Unión and, realistically, the score fell short. América started winning very early, just in the 3rd minute they opened the scoring with a goal from Jhon Palacios, however, they managed to get a scare, because then came a maximum penalty for the visit that was wasted in an incredible way by ‘Caballo’ Márquez. The attacker hit the ball with such bad luck that goalkeeper Jorge Soto held on and saved without any problems.

From then on, América largely dominated the game and before the first half ended they sealed the victory with goals from Luis Ramos and Cristian Barrios. Barrios himself even had the fourth, but the VAR annulled the action because the ball did not go completely in after hitting the horizontal.

Barrios, Carrascal, Bertel and Adrián Ramos had clear options to increase the difference on the scoreboard, but finally the game ended like this.

On matchday 20, América must visit the leader Independiente Medellín, who needs a good result to retain the sporting advantage of the so-called ‘invisible point’.
