All the winners of the FIH Awards 2024
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) chose the best in the world. The entity that regulates and organizes field hockey announced the protagonists who stood out the most in 2024 through its congress for its 100 years that was held in the city of Muscat, Oman. Zoe Díaz of Las Leonas was chosen as the best young player of the year.
Four Argentines had been nominated previously in the different shortlists of the FIH: Cristina Cosentino, as best goalkeeper, Tomás Santiago, as best goalkeeper, and Bautista Capurro and Zoe Díaz, as best young players. The Italiano player was the only one who managed to win first place.
Among the most notable awards, Harmanpreet Singh, from India, was voted the best player in the world in the men’s category, while Yibbi Jansen was awarded in the women’s category.. Santiago was third among the archers and the chosen one was PR Sreejesha historic Indian who retired after Paris 2024. Similar was the case of the China Cosentino who was also third and the winner was Ye Jiao from China.
Bauti Capurro, meanwhile, came second as best young player behind Pakistan’s Sufyan Khan. While Zoe Díaz, the winner in women, beat Tan Kinzhuang (China), Emily White (Belgium), Claire Colwill (Australia) and Linnea Widemann (Germany).
As for the coaches, the Dutch Jeroen Delmee was chosen as the best coach of the year for his work on the Netherlands men’s team with whom he won gold at the Olympic Games. The historic Australian Alyson Annan was awarded in the women’s category after the incredible silver medal she obtained at the helm of the Chinese women’s team.
Finally, Steve Rogers (Australia) and Sarah Wilson (Scotland) were distinguished as the most outstanding referees of the season.
