F1: Oscar Piastri dominated the start of the Miami GP
The Australian, leader of the World Cup with his McLaren, was left with the best time in the only batch of training of the sixth date. The batch ended with Red for Oliver Bearman’s blow.
Liar. Or, at least, incomplete. That is the judgment of the only free training of the Miami GP, sixth formula date 1. The factual: Oscar Piastri was left with the best time and thus extended the domain that is shown in 2025 with its McLaren. The Australian won three of the five races and leads the tournament. But on the end of the batch, when everyone went out to simulate classification with the softer tires, Oliver Bearman’s blow came against the wall and left with the desire to turn several pilots.
Piastri managed to finish his turn launched with the red covers and scored 1m27s128, to outdo Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) by 356 thousandths. Max Verstappen, brand new dad, was third to 430. But, of course, the inappropriate blow of the English of Haas twisted the end of the trial. Because Lando Norris was traveling very fast when the red one arrived and was, minimal, putting second. He had lost in the first sector with Piastri, but he had been faster in the second. Finally, McLaren’s English was 12th with the time achieved with the average covers. Although not being able to close his launched turn was not the biggest problem Norris lived in the start of Miami. In his first runway, he warned by radio that the mechanics had forgotten … Tools at the Cockpit! Incredible, but real.
Bearman also complicated Mercedes’s work, none of his pilots managed to turn with the softer rubber. Anyway, silver arrows got between ten: George Russell, seventh, and Kimi Antonelli, ninth. The Alpine could not complete the return with soft and Pierre Gasly was 17th, two positions ahead of Jack Doohan (the Australian was 273 thousandths of the French).
The abrupt closure of the only batch of trials (there were almost five minutes left) complicated the work of all those teams that could not simulation of qualy because Miami is a weekend with Carrea Sprint. Then, the next track departure in Miami will be directly for the classification of Saturday’s short race. In this instance, everyone must turn with a single medium tire set in Q1 and Q2 and with a single soft game in Q3.
No one doubts that Piastri will be in the fight, but there were several who stayed with the desire to show at what level are when the time comes to accelerate thoroughly.
