Verstappen takes advantage of another race to forget about Ferrari and escapes in the runners-up position: this is how the F1 classification remains after the Brazilian GP (Interlagos)
Max Verstappen couldn’t win this time Interlagos. He had to settle for second place behind a Lando Norris intractable in this Brazilian GP. However, the Dutchman’s second place, combined with the poor race of the two Ferrari consolidates him in the runner-up position behind the already champion Antonelli.
Lando was the great protagonist of the weekend. In a GP where rain was present at all times, the British driver from McLaren brought out his best version and achieved a highly prestigious victory with absolute control of the situation. Not even Verstappen, a great master in these types of conditions, could cope.
After Antonelli’s title in Mexico, the excitement in the F1 general classification is focused more on the runner-up, where Verstappen, the two Ferraris, Russell and even now Norris are vying for that honor. But in the last races the one that adds the most is the of Red Bull and that is why he already has a 17 point margin over George.
Those who had a day to forget were the Ferrari men. Despite Hamilton’s good start, neither the Briton nor Leclerc had pace with the intermediate tire. What’s more, Fernando Alonso left one of the images of the weekend passing Lewis on the outside in one of the Interlagos curves. Charles finished 7th and Hamilton was 9thwhich keeps them away from that runner-up position.
Kimi Antonelli, who is already champion, did not have the ideal race in Brazil and settled for fifth place. On the Spanish side, neither Alonso nor Carlos Sainz managed to score points and they remain at the bottom of the standings.
