Dani Moreno and ‘Pipo’ Rodríguez, first leaders of the Titan Forest Patagonia after a spectacular first stage
The Titan Forest Patagonia This Monday, November 2, its second edition began in Chiliwith the dispute of the first of its four stages in the Aysen Region. With Villa Cerro Castillo as a venue for the first time, the participants of the mountain bike and gravel modalities faced an online stage until Puerto Sanchez.
The day began at 08:00 hours from Villa Cerro Castillo. The first kilometers on asphalt gave way to a wide track, with some sections of undulating surface, in a route that followed for much of its length the Southern Highway. Upon reaching the Murta Riverthe cyclists headed south, advancing parallel to their channel through a more wooded environment.
In that sector the routes of both modalities were separated. While the gravel participants left the Carretera Austral to take a secondary track towards the start of the day’s climb, the MTB peloton faced their most technical section: a grass track next to a stream bed that led them to the outskirts of Murta Bay.
Both routes came together again to face the main mountainous difficulty of the stage, a climb with views of the bay. After crowning it, the competitors began a rapid descent towards Puerto Sanchezwhere the first day concluded.
