Baba Miller, a complicated start: minutes in the NBA are expensive for the former Real Madrid player
In the absence of Santi Aldama’s role in Dallas being revealed with his imminent return, Baba Miller To this day, he is the Spaniard who is having the most difficult time getting quality minutes in the NBA at this start with the Clippers. Above all, in contrast to the important role in the rotation that Aday Mara is having with the Thunder, Sergio de Larrea with the Mavericks and Hugo González with the Celtics.
Unlike all of them, Miller is often playing inconsequential minutes with the game resolved. It was the case last night, in which the Mallorcan entered with 6 minutes remaining, when all the fish were sold in the defeat of Los Angeles Clippers against the Warriors (124-112). Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, Luka Doncic’s new enemy, confirmed that he is a budding NBA star with 37 points.
Baba, 2.11 and 22 years He had 2 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist and has had minutes with the game decided in 3 of the 6 games that the Clippers have played so far. In one he did not play and in another he only had two and a half minutes in the first quarter against the Mara Thunder.
The defeat against the Lakers last week (103-87) is the only game in which the youth squad real Madrid He has had really important minutes so far, although due to the loss of Rui Hachimura. Of course, the Spanish international made good use of the 17 minutes he was given with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and 2 blocks with 2/3 in field goals.
Baba can act between the ‘3’ and ‘5’ and the Clippers coach, Tyronn Luesaid he would use Miller as a power forward and third center. In the ‘5’ rotation, Isaiah Jackson and Brook Lopez are ahead, but Baba has a harder time at ‘4’, as Lue is often preferring to play with small quintets, opting for Keaton Wagler (1.98) or Kobe Sanders (2.03) instead of a purer power forward.
Derrick Jones Jr. (1.98) is also ahead of Miller at ‘4’. The Spanish number 36 in the draft is the most versatile with his 2.11 in the absence of becoming a reliable volume shooter, an area of improvement that may be penalizing him in order to obtain more minutes. For now, Baba Miller has to be patient.
