Sinner announces his return to the slopes
The Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner will dispute the ‘Six Kings Slam’ of Riyadh on December 27, 28 and 30, as announced on his Instagram account, in which he published the promotional image of the tournament with his face and name.
The Italian’s participation was confirmed immediately afterwards by SuperTennis, the television station of the Italian Tennis Federation (FITP).
Sinner, winner of the first two editions, will try to defend the title, after staying away from the courts since July 12, when he won Wimbledon, and announcing that he would not return until 2027 due to his knee injury.
On October 6, the Italian said he was ending his 2026 season to undergo treatment on his right knee.
“The doctors and I have decided that I need to undergo treatment for my knee, which means that the 2026 season is officially over for me,” he explained then on social networks.
Sinner He missed the tournaments in Toronto, Cincinnati, US Open, Beijing and Shanghai due to right knee problems.
After the announcement, his absence from the Vienna tournament, the Paris Masters 1,000, the Turin ATP Finals and the Davis Cup was also assumed, although his recent announcement of participation in the ‘Six Kings Slam’ in the capital of Saudi Arabia, from December 27 to 30, opens the door to his return just before the end of the year.
Sinner announced it through an Instagram story, in which he republished a message from one of the main organizers of the tournament, who is also a Saudi government official. “Star Jannik Sinner returns and will participate in the “Six Kings Slam 2026 in Ryadh Season,” the post reads.
The ‘Six Kings Slam’ brings together six of the main figures in men’s tennis and does not distribute points for the ATP classification.
In its first two editions, in 2024 and 2025, Sinner was proclaimed champion after defeating the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz in both finals.
This tournament was scheduled for October 21 to 24, but was postponed to December due to the attacks that Saudi Arabia is receiving from the Houthi rebels of Yemen, who in recent weeks have focused their offensive against energy and civilian facilities in the country.
