Carlos Sainz: “They put me against the wall and they don’t penalize anyone and this year they penalize me for everything. I don’t understand what happened”
Carlos Sainz finished 18th with a Williams lacking the rhythm with which I already knew I was going to suffer in the F1 United States GPbut he had to suffer even more due to an initial action in which he touched the wall at the start, in full acceleration, because Arvid Lindblad cornered him.
Luckily, despite the touch, there was no accident that could have been very dangerous, and furthermore, Carlos point to continue, although with damage to a front wing that had to be changed during his stop. What was not understood is that race management did not investigate this action, and therefore, there was no sanction for the British.
“I don’t really understand what happened. I don’t know if Arvid (Lindblad) saw me or not, but “He clearly put me against the wall and I hit the wall hard.”commented Carlos Sainz on ‘DAZN’.
“I was a little surprised that, I don’t know why, but this year they penalized me for everything but then they put me against the wall and they don’t penalize anyone. But it is what it is,” said Carlos.
“The front wing broke and then we were lacking a lot of downforce because of that in the first stint. Then we changed the front wing in the pit stop and that has already restored my aerodynamic grip on the car and from there I was able to make a comeback and I finished very close to Alex (Albon, his teammate). And we didn’t fight at the end because being 18th or 19th doesn’t matter much,” he added when reviewing his career.
I don’t really understand what happened. I don’t know if Arvid (Lindblad) saw me or not, but he clearly pushed me against the wall and I hit the wall hard.
Need a better car in 2027
“I’m sorry, we can’t fight for anything else. We have a car that is one second slower than the cars fighting for points. It is one second too slow to have a chance of points and two seconds too slow to fight for a podium,” he commented about a Williams with which he has to fight in these last races with few options to achieve good results.
“Unfortunately, we are having a lot of trouble this end of the year and alone I hope for my sake and for the entire team that next year’s car is much better than this one.“said the Spaniard, who hopes his car goes a little better in Mexico.
“We may be doing a little better in Mexico than here, but I still doubt that we can make a Top-15 or a Top-12,” he concluded.
