FIFA denies The Times: “Infantino is not paid a second salary”

The FIFA has had to come to the defense of Gianni Infantinorecently in the center of the target, after The Times released an investigation whose result reflected that he was earning a second undeclared salary to maintain his luxurious life in Miami.

“FIFA does not pay a second salary to its President and complies with all information requirements regarding remuneration”reported a spokesperson for the organization, who stressed that “the annual remuneration of the FIFA President, as well as other contractual benefits, are determined by the Remuneration Subcommittee, an independent body.”

According to The Times, Infantino would have received millions of euros in undeclared funds, in addition to his base salary and bonuses, which he received from the entity responsible for organizing the World Cup in the United States.

“FIFA categorically rejects any accusation of having omitted financial information or of having infringed its Statutes. “FIFA’s accounts are independently audited and all statements comply with the tax regulations of Switzerland, the United States and other countries,” the spokesperson insisted, adding that “FIFA is fully focused on a meeting of the FIFA Council on Thursday and looks forward to engaging in dialogue with its members to further drive the growth of football following the most successful FIFA World Cup in history.”
