Baskonia is looking at Koloko, ruled out by the NBA and linked with Barça in the summer
After the fiasco that resulted from the hiring of Alex Len, Kosner Baskonia continues to explore all the options offered by the market in search of a center to help complete the squad. And apparently, they would already be clear about what their objective is.
This is Christian Koloko, a Cameroonian center who was released by the New Orleans Pelicans a few days ago. The 26-year-old player, who was already rumored to reinforce Barça’s internal rotation this summer, has received a firm proposal from Baskonia, according to El Correo de Álava this Monday. However, for now the figures and details of the club’s offer are unknown.
Koloko’s arrival in Vitoria is now a priority for the team led by Paolo Galbiati, who is eager to sign an interior after the fleeting signing of Len, who terminated his contract without even making his debut due to physical problems. The Cameroonian, also with past in teams such as Toronto Raptors, LA Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks, stands out for his defensive conditions and presence in the zone.
On the other hand, in addition to gaining depth in the roster, his nationality would allow Baskonia to register him in the Endesa League with a Cotonou passport, something that would allow Galbiati to have more flexibility when making the squad in the domestic competition.
Koloko is one of the many discards that are taking place in the NBA during these weeks prior to the start of the 2026-27 regular season, as many players with non-guaranteed training camp contracts could be free if they do not end up being part of the final squads. Therefore, there are some busy days ahead in the European market waiting to learn more discards.
