Benjamín Noval: “The plan went perfectly”

Benjamin Noval was proclaimed this Thursday junior world champion of the online event. The Asturian thanked the Spanish team for the work done to be able to finish the day later, in statements released by the RFEC.

In particular, Noval has addressed his teammates after his gold Raúl López, Luca Martínez and Aitor Martínez. “The plan went perfectly. I think the four of us understood each other perfectly from the beginning. We knew very clearly what we had to do. “They have done an incredible job,” he explained.

The Spanish cyclist added that from the start of the race he felt strong. “From the beginning I felt very good, I had a good feeling and once I saw that the race was passing, I saw that the moment was coming. When I decided to go forward, I didn’t look back until the finish line,” he declared.

Noval explained how he experienced the day. “With peace of mind. I didn’t get very nervous. I came out with things clear, both me and the team,” he said. “When I saw more than two minutes ahead, more than nervous, I was a little intrigued, because I knew that the final part was going to be very hard after one hundred and thirty kilometers and the circuit going uphill,” he explained.

“Once the race was started, the time was reduced quite quickly. I arrived at the front, decided to attack when the time came and continued to the finish line,” continued Noval. “I tried to regulate myself as best as possible. They were two behind and they were going to understand each other very well. When one was left in pursuit, I knew it was more difficult for them to cut my time. “I have maintained a constant rhythm so as not to ever break down,” he celebrated.

Noval had acknowledged after winning the time trial that becoming world champion was one of his great goals of the season and that he had been specifically preparing for the Montreal event for months. He leaves as a double junior world champion.
