Renewal closed on the Pelicans

About two weeks before training camp starts in the NBA, the New Orleans Pelicans have worked to close the continuity of one of the players who came to the team in the last transfer window.

Saddiq Bey, who joined the Pelicans from the Washington Wizards last February, reached an agreement this Thursday to extend his contract. According to ESPN, the 27-year-old forward signed an extension worth $55 million for the next three seasons, all of them fully guaranteed.

The last contract Bey signed was in July 2024, when he then signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Washington Wizards for 19 million over 3 years, where he did not play a single minute. At the time, the forward was recovering from a torn cruciate ligament in his left knee suffered in a game with the Hawks in 2024.

Now, after returning to the court with the Pelicans at a more than optimal level due to his serious injury, with averages of 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 36.7% in triples in 72 games, the franchise decided to reward the 27-year-old player with a new contract until 2030.
