Barça breathes with Darío Brizuela. The forward had to leave the final of the Catalan League injured, and it was feared that the mishap could be serious and compromise his start to the season, but in the end that will not be the case.
The club announced this Monday that the injury is not serious. “The player suffered a severe bruise on his right leg. The medical tests carried out have ruled out bone and joint injuries. Your participation in the next commitments will be valued based on the response to treatment” was the official message.
The loss of the Spanish international is added to those of the power forward Tosan Evbuomwan and the pivot Yoan Makoundou.
Evbuomwan, 25, was the first player injured in preseason, after suffer a shoulder subluxation in his last match for the British team during the August FIBA windows. The power forward, who is undergoing rehabilitation treatment, will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Likewise, Yoan Makoundou will be sidelined for approximately six weeks. The French center, from AS Monaco, suffers from an exacerbation of patellar tendinopathy in the left knee and will not be able to start the season normally.
Work is piling up at the start of the season for Aleksander Sekulic, who has the difficult task of assembling a team that has eleven new faces and a total of 15 players, three of them already injured.
This week, the Barça team will compete in the Endesa Super Cup. Valencia Basket (9:00 p.m.) will be Barça’s rival this Saturday in the semifinals of the edition that takes place in Badalona.
