Brennan can’t quite believe it: “Five stage wins in La Vuelta is crazy”

If before landing on the start of La Vuelta in Monaco they would have told Brennan that he was going to be the best sprinter of the race he would have signed wherever they told him, but if they also told him that he would win five stages in the Spanish round, in which was the great cycling tour of his debut at the age of 21, he would have said that they were joking.

But, no, the British Team Vismawho achieved two of three first professional victories in the Cycling Tour to Catalonia and has seven consecutive wins on Spanish soil, two in the Return to Burgos and the five in La Vuelta, today he got his hand in the streets of Seville.

This was his assessment at the end of the day: “This morning we talked about the Seville sprint in La Vuelta 24 and what went wrong for Wout van Aert (which was second that day). We didn’t want that to happen again today. We wanted to cross the finish line first and we did it, and he was by my side the entire time. It was great to see and I’m so grateful for the support. It’s great to win here. We have already advanced a lot in the race and we knew that today we had another opportunity,” said the Darlington Corridor.

To then highlight the good work of his teammates: “The team worked hard; we did everything in our power. There are already seven victories. It is the most victories we have achieved as a team in a Grand Tour. Five stage victories is crazy. And we haven’t even reached stage 21! It’s incredible. I feel like I only do the easy part; my teammates work hard all day. I will be eternally grateful to them for that.”
