1-0: Boca Juniors saves the furniture ‘in extremis’

Boca Juniors defeated this Friday in La Bombonera 1-0 Lanus with a goal from Tomás Belmonte in the 93rd minute in a match on the seventh day of the Argentine soccer Clausura Tournament. In one of the two games that marked the beginning of the day, Boca led by former Villarreal player Rodolfo Arruabarrena achieved a victory that elevated them in Group A.

In the match played at the La Bombonera stadium in front of 55,000 fans, Lanús created the clearest opportunities but did not have the aim to open the scoring. In the second half, Boca Juniors improved with the additions of Leandro Paredes and Colombian Sebastián Villa.

In the other duel this Friday, Unión de Santa Fe beat Sarmiento de Junín 4-1 to end a series of good results for Verde. This Saturday the seventh day will continue with five matches, while on Sunday there will be another four with three stars: Banfield-River Plate, Independiente-Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza and Independiente Rivadavia-Racing Club.

River Plate’s match will be the first after the departure, announced this Thursday, of Eduardo Coudet from the ‘millionaire’ bench after a streak of poor results, which included elimination in the round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana – the second continental club tournament after the Libertadores.

Also former soccer player Leo Ponzio will be in charge, on an interim basis, of directing the franjirrojo team. This day will be completed on Monday with four games.
