Messi has a new coach

He Inter Miami announced in the last few hours the signing of the Argentine Cristian Alberto ‘Kily’ González as their new coach, replacing his compatriot Guillermo Hoyoswho will leave office mired in a crisis of results. González was without a team since he left Platense in October 2025.

The former Real Zaragoza, Valencia and Inter Milan player, among other teams, will take over “once he receives the corresponding work permits,” Inter Miami explained in a statement. Until then, Hoyos will continue to sit on the bench, the club added, without clarifying what the current coach’s future will be.

Kily González, without a team since he coached Platense

Hoyos took over last April after Javier Mascherano, the coach with whom Inter Miami won the last MLS Cup, resigned citing personal reasons. Hoyos, the club’s sporting director before Mascherano’s departure, began with a good streak of victories, but the results worsened in the last month, in which they were eliminated from the Leagues Cup and have not won in Major League Soccer (MLS).

Hoyos will not be able to say goodbye to his fans this Saturday against Montreal, since the MLS sanctioned him with one game for repeatedly violating the league’s late start policy. Inter Miami occupies second place in the Eastern Conference with 39 points, 10 away from Nashville, which beat them 4-1 two weeks ago.
