The Colombian Santiago Umba reinforces the mountain block of Caja Rural-Seguros RGA

He Colombian climber Santiago Umba (Arcabuco, 2002) reaches Caja Rural-Seguros RGA to enhance the mountain block with views of the next season.

At 23 years old, he already has notable experience in the professional peloton, with six seasons in different projects and categories, including one WorldTour campaign with the XDS-Astana teamaccording to the team in a statement.

This is demonstrated by their victories at the Austrian GP Vorarlberg and in the fourth stage of the Tour of Magnificent Qinghaiwhere he beat Jan Castellon in the final, as well as in the queen day of the recent Tour of Kahramanmaraş, a race in which he finished second overalland in the Ordu Black Sea Classic, also in Türkiye.

Furthermore, it was third in the final classification of Istrian Spring Tour Croatian, second in it Alcide Degasperi Trophy, sixth in it Beiras Grand Prix and eighth in the Giro dell’Appennino.

From Umba highlights that he is a runner who “handles well in the mountainsbut who has shown special ability on complicated and winding terrain. It performs perfectly on circuits with small hills and arrivals in small groups, where, despite its size, has shown a more than interesting top speed“.

Faced with his new stage, in statements provided by the team, the Boyacá runner states that he feels that he still has “a lot of room for improvement as a cyclist and a project like Caja Rural-Seguros RGA will be perfect to continue this process”.

It is described as “a versatile cyclist, climber but also with good explosiveness to try to add victories and good positions in complicated finals”

Regarding his goals, he says he wants to “be able to add as many UCI points as possible and maintain a good level throughout the season. My goal is to be constant and competitive from the beginning“, he asserts.
