Cristina Bucsa completes the Spanish team for the Billie Jean Cup
The Cantabrian Cristina Bucsa will complete the Spanish tennis team in the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Finals that will be held in the Chinese city of Shenzhen from September 22 to 27. She will thus join Jessica Bouzas, Kaitlin Quevedo, Marina Bassols and Sara Sorribes in the team captained by Carla Suárez.
The Cantabrian returned to the circuit at the end of July after two months away from the courts due to a wrist injury suffered at Roland Garros. The break put a stop to the best moment of her career after winning her first WTA 500 title in Mérida and breaking into the Top-30 of the world rankings.
The Olympic bronze medalist in doubles in Paris’24 with Sara Sorribes is currently 38th in the world, the best-placed Spanish tennis player in the WTA ranking.
Spain will face Kazakhstan, led by Elena Rybakina, in the quarterfinal tie that will be played on September 23, starting at 11:00 a.m. in Spain, and which can be followed through Teledeporte and RTVEPlay.
