“Barça was behind and Deco came to see him”

A few weeks ago there was talk of the interest of FC Barcelona at the end of the Ajax Mika Godts21 years old and for whom at this moment the one negotiating is the PSG. The Parisian club made a first offer that was rejected by the Dutch club and its general secretary, Jordi Cruyff, and now they are preparing the second.

In the Netherlands, Barça’s interest in the Dutch international has been confirmed. It was done by journalist Mike Verweij, Ajax analyst for ‘De Telegraaf’, on the Kick-Off podcast. “I spoke yesterday with his agent, Niels De Jonck, for a while. And I didn’t know, it wasn’t De Jonck telling me yesterday, but someone else, that FC Barcelona was very interested in Godts, as was Bayern Munich.”

“Bayern finally chose Ismael Saibari because they wanted a player who could also play as a center forward,” says Verweij, referring to the transfer of the former PSV player. “FC Barcelona was also very interested, and Deco visited the Johan Cruijff ArenA several times to see Godts. That is probably the reason why Cruyff said: if clubs like these are interested, let him play here for one more year. This way he will not lose his value,” says the journalist.
