1-3: Juárez, the only Mexican who shows his face
The Colombian Óscar Estupiñán and the Portuguese Ricardinho each scored a goal today to give the Juarez FC a 1-3 victory over the Vancouver Whitecapsin the Leagues Cup. Ettson Ayón, Estupiñán and Ricardinho scored for Juárez, while Jeevan Badwal scored for the MLS team.
In the best performance of the Mexicans this Friday, Juárez found themselves down due to a goal from Badwal, left-footed in the 12th minute, but they did not panic and tied in the 34th with a goal from Ayón, from a pass from Jairo Torres. The Canadians sought to respond, but they found themselves with an organized rival at the back who took advantage in the 74th minute with a left-footed shot from Estupiñán after a pass from Denzell García and confirmed the victory with a right-footed shot from Ricardinho, in a counterattack.
Juárez jumped to first place in the standings of Liga MX teams, with two wins in two outings and six points, two ahead of Tigres UANL, which tied without goals today with Minnesotta, but defeated them on penalties 4-2. The performances of Juárez FC and Tigres were the best of Mexico in a day dominated by MLS teams.
