Aston Martin hits rock bottom: “We have problems that will not be solved by just putting more power”

Mike Krackhead of track Aston Martinhe warned on Thursday before all the weekend action began in Barcelona. However, not even in the worst omens did they expect such a complicated GP, being clearly last on the grid and being unable to finish Sunday’s race without either car.

The Luxembourger had to take stock of the weekend afterward with the media deployed to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and few words were needed to understand the serious crisis in which those at Silverstone are immersed. Without going any further, the rookie team of the season, Cadillac, was one second ahead of them in classification. There is no worse car and the Monaco point cannot mask it.

It’s been a disappointing weekendsome disappointing weeks, some difficult weeks. We expected a difficult weekend, but having such a poor performance and not finishing the race, or rather having two retirements, doesn’t make it easy at all,” Krack said. “First of all, I’d like to say that I’m sorry for all the fans. “We saw many wearing the green shirt and they were people who bought very expensive tickets to see their heroes.”

Neither Fernando Alonso nor Lance Stroll finished due to similar problems. Krack assured that it was an electrical issue, but he could not give much information as he had not done the post-race analysis yet. The question is clear: Will the improvements of that second half really make that much of a difference?

We have a strong leader and the decision was made to improve the car in the second half of the season. It is up to all of us to commit to that decision, even if it is difficult because it begins to weigh on all members of the team, especially the drivers.. Our job is to keep motivation high, learn everything we can. I’ve said it before, there are many things we can improve in this car. It would be easy to say let’s just go around in a circle and wait for improvements. “Some of the problems we have will still be there.”

“What’s been mentioned about the drivability, the gear changes, how the whole drivetrain reacts, the power… these are aspects where I think we still have a lot of work to do. Any problems you have with this will not be solved by simply adding a little more power or a little more downforce.. These problems will persist, so they must be resolved,” he concluded.
