Official: Touré Yaya, new coach of Slovan Bratislava
It’s official now. Touré Yaya (43 years old) is the new coach of the Slovan Bratislava. The one who was a player for Barça in the first treble or for Manchester City among other teams, will thus face his first experience as a main coach, after years of training, being an assistant at the Ukrainian Olimpik Donetsk and at the Russian Akhmat Grozny first, and then at Standard Liege and the Saudi Arabia national team, with an intermediate journey as coach of the Tottenham youth team.
Leading the current Slovak champion, the almost immediate challenge of the former Ivorian midfielder will be to qualify Slovan Bratislava for the group stage of the Champions League.
“Football is everything to me. I love challenges and I am incredibly excited to coach a great club with a rich history, a beautiful stadium and great ambitions,” said Touré Yaya in his presentation, also leaving some examples of the game he wants to implement: “I want to play dominant football and control the games so we can delight our fans. “I have already tried to study the team in as much detail as possible.”
