Wout Van Aert remains intractable

Imperial. Wout Van Aert (31 years old) was the fastest in the sprint in the fifth stage of the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, formerly known as Dauphiné Criteriuma day in the office of 195.8 kilometers between Saint-Chamond and the Parc des Oiseaux Villars-les-Dombes.

A profile of the day that was slightly broken at the beginning with the presence of two fourth category ports that favored the formation of a breakaway of up to six cyclists (Reinderink, Guernalec, Arriolabencoa, Engelhardt, Houle and Dhondt) who did not have much margin to dream of competing among themselves for the stage victory.

Most of the kilometers were completely flat and the sprinter teams were not going to allow their fastest men not to fight for victory. With 12 kilometers to go the escapees were hunted down and a new stage was born, which was going to be decided by the sprint.

Van Aert double

The big winner of the day was going to be the Belgian Wout Van Aert, who signed a double in the test, ahead of the Frenchman Hugo Hofstetterwho hit his helmet after crossing the finish line and seeing victory so close; and with Sergi Darder as best Spanish, 15th; at a stage in which again his team, Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, was once again the protagonist.

The Gaul Alex Baudin He maintains the lead of the race with twelve seconds of margin over his compatriot Kevin Vauquelinwaiting for what may happen this Friday with the first of the three decisive high mountain stages. A day of 181.4 kilometers, between Saint-Vulbas and Crest-Volandwith two first-class ports in the last kilometers. A day in which the spotlight would have to go to other runners.
