Bergougnoux, who leaves behind a wife and four children, concluded his career as a professional player with Tours FC. Later, he focused on coaching. Since the summer of 2025 he was part of the Le Havre coaching staff as an assistant coach. According to ‘Le Progrès’, Bergougnoux was scheduled to participate in a legends tournament on Friday but various sources report that he suddenly lost consciousness in the car on the way to the event. After the incident, the former soccer player was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
