The women’s Giro d’Italia kicks off today in style with the huge challenge of the Colle Delle Finestre on the horizon

The 37th edition of the Giro d’Italia Women starts rolling this Saturday with a total of nine stages, with the feared and expected at Colle Delle Finestre and with some of the best cyclists in the world. The ‘Corsa Rosa’ femenina disputes after The Returnwho brilliantly defeated the Catalan Paula Blasiabsent in the Giro, and before the mother of all cycling battles, the Tour de France.

21 teams (14 World Tour, 2 UCI Pro Team and 5 continental category) make up the peloton of the Giro d’Italia Women. The cyclists have to face nine stages, one more than in 2025, for a total of 1153.7 kilometers and 12,500 meters of elevation gain.

The intensity of the race goes from less to more. The 12.7 kilometer time trial in the fourth stage stands out; the hardness of the next, with the first port of 1st category (Tre Croci Pass) and the queen day of Saturday the 6th, the penultimate day. 101 kilometers of Rivoli to Sestriere with the hard climb to Colle Delle Finestre (1st) 27 kilometers from the finish line.

At the level of runners, the rival to beat is the champion of the last two editions, the Italian Elisa Longo Borghiniwith permission of Demi Vollering, Marlen Reuser, Anna van der Breggen or Sarah Gigante. In Spanish, pointing out the presence of Movistar Team and Laboral Kutxaas well as Mireia Benito (AG Insurance) and Mavi Garcia (UAE Team ADQ.
