Emmanuel Petit, ex-footballer: “I went to Barça for the love of a woman and I regret it”

Emmanuel Petit (53) He leaves great headlines whenever he speaks. The former French international FC Barcelonawho only spent one season at the Camp Nou (2000-01), did not leave very good feelings and it seems that the defender is not very satisfied with having made the decision to leave Arsenal either. He admits that he did it out of love for the actress Agathe de la Fontaine and that he regrets it.

Looking back, Petit stated on the ‘Stadium Astro’ podcast that “if I could go back in time I would surely choose another option. I always saw Barcelona and Madrid among the biggest clubs in the world, but I should have stayed at Arsenal.”

In the end, Emmanuel Petit only stayed one season at the Barça club and was then transferred to Chelsea, where he spent the last years of his career. “Sometimes the grass is not greener in other places and it is better to stay where you are. When you have everything, why leave?” concluded the former footballer.
